Bout of Books Challenge – Booking In Heels

The Page 48 Challenge

Bout of Books

Here’s how to join in:
  • Turn to page 48 of your current book, or 48% if you’re using an e-reader.
  • Take the first complete sentence on that page and copy it.
  • Now you’re going to continue the story! Ignoring the real plot or anything else you know about that book, add four new sentences of your very own. You can morph the plot completely, kill everybody off or go off on a huge tangent – anything goes!

1st complete sentence on page 48:

Georgetown County sheriff A. Lane Cribb had been in law enforcement since 1973, thirty-two years.

My new version:

Georgetown County sheriff A. Lane Cribb had been in law enforcement since 1973, thirty-two years.  When he approached the home located at 777 Drury Lane, he never had that renowed ‘cop’s hunch’ that what he would find there would be, by far, the most disturbing thing he had ever seen in his entire career.  This crime scene made Jeffrey Dahmer’s apartment look PG rated in comparison.  It wasn’t just the fact that the victim count was so very high and the age of the victim’s so very young but what made it even more horrific was the thought and intention the killer took in the  positioning and posing of each and every body.  It was like a Martha Stewart decorating book for serial killers.
